Thomas James “Jim” Kempton Jr., 72, of Blue Springs, MO passed away Saturday, August 23, 2008 at his home. A Memorial visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 26 at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley, MO. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to St. Mary’s Foundation – Pulmonary Rehabilitation.
Jim was born April 24, 1936 in Richmond, VA, the son of Mary (Hundley) and Thomas James Kempton Sr. He married Joyce Pragman on August 16, 1984. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps. from 1955-1960. He previously worked for Clarks Tools in Blue Springs as a repairman.
His parents preceded Jim in death.
His survivors include his wife of 24 years, Joyce Kempton of the home; one son: Dirk Kempton, of Charlotte, NC; six daughters: Laura McGinnis, of Wintersprings, FL, Kim Wright of Euless, TX, Terry Ryning and companion Doug Montgomery, Lauri Eckman and husband Scott, all of Blue Springs, MO, Robin Smith and husband Mel, of Lee’s Summit, MO, and Julie Green, of Odessa, MO; two brothers: Richard Kempton, of Richmond, VA and Jack Kempton, of Greensboro, NC; 15 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren.
