James E. Ketteman


James Edward Ketteman, 88, of Oak Grove, Missouri passed away January 30, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family.  Visitation will be 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 3, 2014 at Oak Grove United Methodist Church, Oak Grove, MO.  Funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the church; burial in Blue Springs Cemetery.  Memorial Contributions may be made in James’s name to Crossroads Hospice, 9237 Ward Pkwy Kansas City, MO 64114 or Oak Grove United Methodist Church, 1501 S. Harding St., Oak Grove, MO 64075.

James was born July 6, 1925, north of Oak Grove, Missouri, to Grover Cleveland & Lucy Mae (Hudnall) Ketteman.  James was in the U.S. Navy.  He married Elizabeth W. Flynn on April 28, 1945.  James worked as a welder and a maintenance electrician and retired after 30 years of service for General Motors at the Fairfax, KS plant.  He was a lifelong member of Local UAW 31.   James had always been very active in the Oak Grove United Methodist Church, Davis Center, Meals on Wheels, Boy Scouts Troop 266 and was a member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say.  He loved tinkering at home and going to auctions.

James was preceded in death by his parents: Grover &Lucy Ketteman; 2 sisters: Florence Becker & Mary Lou Maxfield; and brother-in-law, Marvin Maxfield.

James is survived by his wife Elizabeth of the home; sons: Jim (Debbie) of Oak Grove, MO, Dan (Shiwand) Ketteman of Godfrey, IL; grandchildren: Jamie (Joey) Nau of Higginsville, MO, Jenellie Ketteman of Oak Grove, MO, Janalea (Tommy) Hernandez of Oak Grove, Trevor Ketteman of Quincy, IL,  great-grandchildren: Westley, Stephanie, Ethan, Noah Nau all of Higginsville, MO, Kyra and Kylar Hernandez of Oak Grove, MO; brother: Tom (Charlene) of Kansas City, MO; brother-in-law: Bob Becker of Independence, MO; and many nieces and nephews.
