Ricky “Rick” Lee Calhoun, age 59, passed away on Saturday, August 13, 2016 in Independence, MO. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 18th at New Salem Funeral Home, Independence; burial in New Salem Cemetery, Independence. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
He was born September 19, 1956 the son of Thomas and Alma (Tory) Calhoun. He was previously employed at Grain Valley Muffler for many years. He was employed in the Auto-Cadd Drafting and Automobile Mechanic fields for many years. Rick was a hard-worker and loved his family and friends. He played guitar and was a “Garage Piddler”. He was very talented and could make anything.
Rick is survived by his son, Adam Calhoun; daughter, Sarah Jenkins, both of Independence, MO; three brothers: Michael Calhoun and Clayton (Rosie) Calhoun both of Bryan, Texas and Bob Calhoun of Houston, Texas; girlfriend, Kristi Case of Independence; his mother, Alma Dawson of Fort Madison, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Calhoun; foster parents, Charles and Darlene Bostock; grandmother, Jesteen Tieman; and brother, Craig Calhoun.
