Paul Richard Koontz Jr., 58, of Independence, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, August 1, 2018.  No services are scheduled.

Paul was born on July 22, 1960 in St Pedro, California, the son of Paul Richard Sr. & Patricia Anne (Stair) Koontz.  He served in the Army for 3 years as a Petroleum Supply Specialist and reached the rank of E4.  Paul married Gabriele D. Zaar on July 29, 1989. He loved the outdoors and going fishing. Paul was a loving husband, father and grandfather.  He will be deeply missed.

Paul is survived by his wife of 29 years, Gabriele “Gabi” Koontz; two daughters: Hope M. McIntyre (husband: Preties W) of Colorado Springs, CO, and Julia K. Koontz of Independence; two grandchildren: Henley L. Koontz and Zymirah N. McIntyre; three sisters: Gina Griffith of Colorado Springs, CO, Cindy Toburen of Paola, KS, and Lori Clifton of Williamsburg, KS; two brothers: Hank Koontz of Independence, and Jeffrey Koontz of Buckner, MO; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents.
