Shirley Ann McGhee, 79, Bates City, passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2014. She was born July 11, 1934 in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of James Gleasner and Martha Lillian O’Brien Langley. On September 17, 1955, she married Harlan McGhee who preceded her in death in 1992. Shirley was a 1952 graduate of Paseo High School and worked at TWA and House of Lloyd. Shirley will be remembered as a woman of great faith who was happiest fulfilling her role as a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed volunteering at the Franciscan Prayer Center. She was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church, past president of DCCW, and professed member to The Secular Franciscan Order of the Holy Eucharist Fraternity. Survivors include 5 children: Jack McGhee, Joseph (Denise) McGhee of Bates City, MO, Carol (Dennis) Hake of Blue Springs, MO, Kevin (Madeline) McGhee of Oak Grove, MO, Sheryl (Lewis) Monteil of Odessa, MO; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Saturday, February 8th at Royer Funeral Home, Oak Grove, MO from 9-10 a.m. with Rosary at 9:30. Funeral Mass at St. Jude’s Catholic Church, Oak Grove, MO at 11:00 a.m. followed by burial in Oak Grove Cemetery.
