Gerald Vincent Nelson, 66, of Grain Valley, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, December 5, 2006 at Golden Living Center, Independence, MO. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 8, 2006 at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley; burial in Valley Memorial Gardens, Grain Valley. the family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Jerry was born on July 22, 1940, in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Harry M. and Clara (Snyder) Nelson. He married Shirley Prichard on December 18, 1964. Jerry was a warehouse manager. He was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church in Oak Grove, MO. He was very active in online prayer groups and cancer support groups, where he was known as “Stan the Man”. Jerry was also an avid sports collector and enthusiast. He was preceded in death by a sister, Eileen Nelson in 2001.

His survivors include: his wife of 43 years: Shirley A. Nelson of the home; two daughters: Cindy Lombardo & husband, Mike of Independence, MO, and Pamela Smith of St. Peters, MO; one sister: Harriet Portillo of Independence, MO; two grandchildren: Stina Lyday & Lauren Smith; and four nephews.
