Shirley Ann Nelson, 70, of Grain Valley, MO, passed away Friday, May 16, 2008 at Barnes Jewish St. Peter’s Hospital in St. Peters, MO. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 20th at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley; burial in Valley Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until service time. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to either the American Diabetes Association or the Kidney Foundation.
Shirley was born April 3, 1938 in Truman, Arkansas, the daughter of Jack & Agnes Mearl (Cook) Prichard. She married Gerald “Jerry” Nelson on December 18, 1964 and he preceded her in death on December 5, 2006 after 43 years of marriage. Her father also preceded her in death.
Shirley loved spending time with her family & friends, shopping, watching movies, visiting with her chat room friends on the computer, and collecting Beanie Babies.
She is survived by two daughters: Cindy A. Lombardo & husband Mike of Independence, and Pamela (Smith) Koltun & husband Jason of St. Peters, MO; two granddaughters: Stina Lyday & husband Joey and Lauren Smith; her mother: Agnes Prichard and a sister: Joyce Altobell, both of St. Peters, MO.
She will be lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
