Jerry Clayton Nichols, 60, of Odessa, MO passed away December 17, 2012.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday December 20, 2012 at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley, MO. Funeral Service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday December 21, 2012 at the funeral home. Burial with Military Honors will be 12:00 p.m. at MO State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, MO.
Jerry was born November 24, 1952 in Independence, MO to Leonard L. & Evelyn P. (Van Cleave) Nichols. Jerry was a 1971 graduate of Raytown High School. Jerry proudly served his country as a United States Marine during the Vietnam War. On April 19, 1986 Jerry married Peggi Richards. Jerry was a kind and caring man, and would help anyone he could. He loved his family very much and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He loved working outside on his land and working with his tractor. Jerry was a Certified Master Electrician and was a loyal member of the IBEW Local 124 Union.
Jerry was preceded in death by his father: Leonard Nichols.
Jerry is survived by his wife: Peggi Nichols of the home; daughters: Jennifer Swearingen & husband Richard of Basehor, KS, Julie Barrett & husband Cory of Louisburg, MO, Jennifer Nieweg & husband Mike of Oak Grove, MO; son: Jesse Nichols of Jefferson City, MO; mother: Evelyn Nichols of Jane, MO; siblings: Beverly Jones (Richard) of Blue Springs, MO, David Nichols (Sue) of Blue Springs, MO, Bill Nichols (Fran) of Jane, MO, Barbara Clark (Michael) of Jane, MO, Don Nichols of Little Rock, AR; 5 grandchildren: Sadie Nichols, Chase Barrett, Michael Barrett, Ella Swearingen, Adelynn Nieweg; many nieces, nephews, and other family and friends. Greatly loved and will be missed by all. We love you dad.
