Wayne M. Overton, 92, of Buckner, Missouri, passed away Monday, May 4, 2015 at Oak Grove Nursing & Rehab. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 7th at Oakland United Methodist Church, Buckner; burial in Oakland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Oakland United Methodist Church Ramp fund.
Wayne was born April 20, 1923, in Dawn, Missouri, the son of Forest and Ruth (Brown) Overton. He served in the Army Air Corp during WWII. Wayne married Mary Caroline Wetzel on August 8, 1955. He was a production planner for Westvaco. Wayne was a member of Oakland United Methodist Church and the Methodist Camping Group.
His survivors include his wife of 59 years, Caroline of the home; son, Ray (Sandra) Overton of Honey Creek, IA; daughter, Donna Sue (Thomas) Price of Blue Springs, MO; five grandchildren: Laura Augustus, Amy Jackson, Carissa Overton, Kevin Price, Aaron Price; and two great-grandchildren: Addison & Evan Jackson.
