Alberta Lynne Pearce, 85, of Downey, California, passed away on October 22, 2018 in Oak Grove, Missouri. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 25th at New Life Church, 801 SW 1st Street, Oak Grove, MO 64075 with Todd Blansit officiating.
Alberta was born on August 4, 1933, in Upland, California, the daughter of Albert Lee & Stella Lynne (Reed) Hilburn. She went to school at Wasilla High School in Wasilla, AK. Alberta worked as a book keeper for L.A. Galvanizing for over 20 years. After retirement, she was involved in volunteer work for the E.T.C. Thrift Store in Anderson, CA, where she received countless awards for hours of selfless service. Alberta loved animals, square dancing, round dancing, movies, shopping, reading, sweets, and most importantly her family. She had a heart for adventure and was ready for any road trip her family would take her on.
Alberta is preceded in death by her father, Albert Hilburn; her mother, Stella Swank; and her stepfather, Herbert Swank.
Her survivors include her two children: son, Herbert Pearce and spouse Sheila Yonda, and daughter Sandra Bettincourt and spouse Larry Bettincourt; sister Carol Bates; brother James Hilburn; four grandchildren: Lawrence, David and spouse Rachel, Kaytie, and Jennifer; and four great-grandchildren: Trey, Averie, Teagan, and Rylen.
The family of Alberta would like to extend a special thanks to Oak Grove Nursing Home and Beacon of Hope Hospice for caring for her in her final days, and to Royer Funeral Home and New Life Church for helping our family honor her.
While Alberta will be dearly missed, her smile, kindness, and generosity will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
