It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to Charles E. Powers, beloved husband, father and grandfather. Charles passed away on February 15th, 2015 at home at the age of 80 surrounded by family.
He leaves behind his wife of 57 years, Nancy E. Powers. He is also survived by his children Cheryle (Gene) Downen, Doug Powers, Charles David Powers and Helen Gales, 10 grandchildren, Melissa (Scott) Beard, Janis (Mark) Czirr, Mark (Hilary) Powers, Rachel Houk-Esteban, Shannon Powers, Russell (Kera) Houk, Joshua Gales, Jessica Powers, Kaitlyn Gales and Chance Powers, and 14 Great-grandchildren, Riley (8), Carly (4), Carter (2), Lillian (7), Jackson (3), Xavior (12), Zander (5) Harper due on March 11th, Haven (10), Carlos (7), Alexis (7), Izabelle (2), Makenzie (5), and Adrianne (3).
Charles was born on October 22, 1934 in Edwardsport, IN to Ernest G. Powers and Viola J. Vale. Brother to Dorothy, Gilbert (Gibb), Ara (Buddy), Paul and who all preceded him in death.
He lived in Bicknell until the day he joined the United States Air Force, retiring as a Master Sergeant after 20 years.
Memorial services will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 18th at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley, MO. An inurnment will take place at a later date in Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville, MO.
