Velvie Mildred “Millie” Price, of Independence, MO passed away Friday, July 22, 2011 at the age of 78. She was born December 15, 1932 in Converse, MO to Riley and Hazel King. Millie is survived by her children, Lisa Lyons and husband Greg, Duane Price Jr. and wife Terri, Allison Hall and husband Blake, as well as six grandchildren, one great grandchild, three sisters, and two brothers. She was preceded in death by her husband Duane Price Sr., her parents, and brother Edwin King. She retired from Mid-Continent Public Library after 13 years of service. As a member of the RLDS church, she served as Girl’s director, Women’s Leader, VCS teacher, cooked for numerous camps, reunions, and retreats and was a member of the Laurel Club. Millie was an outstanding cook who loved feeding family and friends, traveling, listening to music and reading. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, July 30, at 11:00 a.m. at South Crysler Restoration Branch of The Church of Jesus Christ, 16101 Salisbury Road, Independence, MO, 64050. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society.
