Donna Mae Rehmsmeyer was born November 17, 1937 in Higginsville, Missouri; and was baptized June 16, 1940 at Grace Methodist Church in Higginsville. Donna and her two siblings were raised in Concordia on a small dairy farm. She loved to share childhood stories about living on a farm in rural Missouri. Some of her favorites included her daily chore of collecting chicken eggs while having to look out for a very mean rooster, and never knowing when she might pull out a large black snake instead of an egg. Although there was a great deal of work living on the farm, Donna and her siblings had lots of fun providing a lifetime of memories. Her family taught her a relentless work ethic that she shared with others throughout her life.

Donna graduated from Concordia High School in 1955; and moved to Kansas City shortly after were she worked at Commercial Credit Days. Later she met and fell in love with a young man name Robert Rehmsmeyer; and, after a year of courtship, they married in 1957. They spent the next 58 years exhibiting their love through all of life’s joys, achievements, and challenges…. including their two children.

Besides being a mother and wife, Donna had several jobs, and retired after sixteen years with the IRS in 1996. After retirement Donna worked in the family business buying and selling antiques. She quickly developed a passion for treasure hunting at garage sales.  This was a hobby that she enjoyed until the end.

As life aged her body, Donna displayed indomitable spirit by never giving up or even, willingly, slowing down. She portrayed a level of inner strength, perseverance, and passion for living life to the fullest that will continue through her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Donna joins her parents Ralph and Jewell Schloman and brother, Jerry, in heaven. She is survived by her loving husband, Robert Lee Rehmsmeyer; sister, Carol Christy; daughter, Tammy Lewis; son-in-law, Bob Lewis; son, Robert Keith Rehmsmeyer; daughter-in-law, Jaime Rehmsmeyer; four grandchildren: Machele Cave, Melissa Lewis, Robert (Andrew) Rehmsmeyer, and Levi Cave; and two great-grandchildren: Daniel (Pierce) Cave and Trace Cave.
