Steven Wesley Rice, 60, of Independence, MO, passed away November 14, 2014. He was born October 22, 1954, in Independence, MO to Paul Wesley and Sue Carol (Richardson) Rice. He was a lifelong Independence resident and attended Truman High School. Steven had worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a truck driver for many years before his disability forced him to retire.
Steven enjoyed hunting, fishing, baseball and football. He especially enjoyed his family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Pam Rice, in 2012 and a sister, Karen Ballowe.
Survivors include his children, Nicholle Renee Mammen (Trevor) of Sioux City, Iowa, Ryan Wesley Rice (Louann) of Indep, MO, Aaron Lee Rice (Katie) of Parkville, MO, Jason Gene Rice (Carrie) of Kansas City, MO, his father and mother, Paul and Carol Sue Rice of Indep, MO, a sister, Shery L. Hammond of Indep, MO, two step-children, twelve grandchildren, and five step-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to American Caner Society.
Services will be Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at New Salem Funeral Home. Visitation is 10 to 11 a.m. Funeral at 11:00 a.m. Burial in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
