Jo Ann Rowland, 87, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2016, surrounded by her loved ones. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 19th at Royer Funeral Home, Oak Grove; burial in Oak Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Jo Ann was born April 25, 1929 in Kansas City, Missouri to the late Walter and Edna (Todd) Hall. She was the youngest of 9 children and was preceded by all of her siblings; her husband Jim Rowland; daughter, Susan McCarty; and son, Tony Long.
Jo Ann graduated Blue Springs High School in 1947. She professed her life to Christ at an early age and loved going to church and cherished praising the Lord. Jo Ann always enjoyed helping others and was a great role model to her entire family. She retired from Western Electric. Jo Ann loved to read her Bible, praying for and with others, spending time with family, laughing and always wearing a smile on her face. She was a loving and caring person, devoted wife, mother, sister and friend, always thinking of others first. “To know her was to love her.”
Jo Ann leaves to cherish her loving memory her children, Patty Pitts and Danny Morris; stepdaughters, Kim Rowland and Debbie Harkness; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 7 great great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
