James D. Scully, 83, of Blue Springs, MO passed away Saturday June 7, 2014 surrounded by his loving family.

Visitation will be 10:00-11:00 a.m. Wednesday June 11, 2014 at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley, MO. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial in Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Grain Valley, MO. Memorial contributions may be made to Village Hospice. James was born February 24, 1931 in Beluve, KS to Leo & Marie (Lintz) Scully. James was a truck driver for Yellow Freight until he retired in 1988. On October 11, 1950 he married Betty R. Heyman.

James served his country in the U.S. Navy. He enjoyed raising cattle and gardening. Family was very important to James and he enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sport and school activities. James was preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers and 1 sister. James is survived by his wife Betty Scully of the home; daughter: Jan Chaffee & husband Phil of Oak Grove; 2 sons: Mike Scully & wife Debbie of Grain Valley, MO, Ron Scully & wife Dalisa of Harrisonville, MO; 7 grandchildren: Krissy Conner, Kim Scully, Jamie Scully, Justin Scully, Ashley Scully, Katelyn Canon, Kirby Whaley; 5 great-grandchildren: Caden Conner, Kinley Conner, Kendall Conner, Braylon Scully, Beckham Scully.
