Josephine Mae Sherman, 93, of Kansas City, MO, formerly of Oak Grove, MO passed away October 7, 2013.

Visitation will be 1-2pm Thursday, October 10, 2013 at Royer Funeral Home, Oak Grove, MO.

Graveside service with burial will be at 2:00 p.m. in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Josephine Mae Sherman was born in Independence, MO January 11, 1920 to Mary F. & Roy C. Martin. She graduated from William Chrisman High School in 1938. Josephine married Willard W. Sherman May 29, 1940. To this union were born 2 children, Janice Jean and William Warren. The family lived in Independence, MO until 1959 when they moved to Oak Grove, MO.

Jo worked for several years during the 1950’s at Lake City Arsenal Plant in Independence. In 1961 she went to work for American Polled Herford Association where she worked for 25 years.

In 1976 Jo moved back to the Independence, MO area where she lived until her death. She was a lifelong member of the Community of Christ Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved son William (Bill) in 1969, and her husband, Willard in 1976.

She is survived by her daughter Janice Quick and her husband David of Rich Hill, MO, 1 sister: Mary Schildhauer of Buckner, MO; 3 brothers: Roy Martin of Lee’s Summit, MO, Travis Martin of Kansas City, MO, Harold Martin of Independence, MO; 2 granddaughters: Nancy White of Raytown, MO, Pam Reynolds of Parker, CO who saw lovingly to her care until her death; 2 grandsons: Brian Quick of Springfield, MO, Danny Quick of Lawson, MO and 11 great-grandchildren.
