William Keith Shumate, 57, of Independence, Missouri, passed away on June 6, 2007. Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Keith was born on October 16, 1949, in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of William Virgil and Dorothy Lois (Feely) Shumate. He graduated from Van Horn High School. Keith was a Baptist and attended First Baptist Church in Raytown. He loved helping people – mow their yard, raking leaves, helping in the garden etc.

Keith was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Michael Shumate in 2001.

His survivors include his long time companion, Karen Rainey of the home; one sister: Shirley Calvin & her husband, Bill, of Blue Springs, MO; two nephews: Troy & Billy Calvin; one niece: Gina Smith; and several great nieces & nephews.
