Gail Thaine Berneking, 71, of Oak Grove, Missouri, passed away on Friday, October 22, 2021, at home with his loving wife by his side. A Celebration of Life will be held from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 13, 2021, at Score Sports Bar & Grill, 9100 E. 35th Street South, Independence, Missouri 64052.
Gail was born on November 13, 1949, in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Henry Thaine and Betty Jane (Sprink) Berneking. He was raised in Kansas City and graduated for East High School in 1967.
In 2000, Gail met the love of his life, Deborah O’Hare. They were married on May 4, 2013, and made their home in Oak Grove, Missouri.
Gail retired from General Motors in Fairfax, Missouri, after 35 years of loyal service. He spent his free time riding his Harley with his wife, Debbie. He was a member of Freedom of Road Riders for 18 years. Gail enjoyed collecting cars, motorcycles, and working on them. He enjoyed participating in Poker Runs and Fund Raisers.
Gail is survived by his wife, Deborah Berneking of the home; stepdaughter, Kristin; three grandsons; brother, James Berneking; sister, Jill Berneking Ross; and three nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Craig Berneking.
