Karen A. Speer

Karen Anne Speer, age 44, of Grain Valley, Missouri, passed away Tuesday morning, October 7, 2014 after a short illness.  Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 11th at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Karen was born July 27, 1970 in Kansas City, Missouri.  She graduated from high school in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.  She married William Eric Speer on February 11, 1994.  Karen and Eric made their home in Grain Valley, Missouri, with their daughter, Shelby.

Karen worked for H&R Block and often spoke highly of her work friends, not only of their professionalism, but for the joy they brought to her life.  One of the highlights of her time there was traveling to the Philippines to assist in the training of personnel in that location.

She was a loving wife and mother.  Her many friends will confirm that she loved solving puzzles, loved reading, loved listening to music, loved her “wiener dogs” and loved purple, but she loved her friends and family above all else.

She is survived by her husband, William Eric Speer; her daughter, Shelby Anne Speer; her mother, Beverly Anne Parks; her sister, Janice Haynie; two brothers, Michael Lewis and Gary Lewis; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Karen will be remembered affectionately not only by her family, but by numerous close friends and co-workers, which supports this beautiful parting thought:

When tomorrow starts without me Don’t think we are far apart For every time you think of me I’m right here in your heart.

We love you, Karen!
