Stephen Henry Bate 63, of Kansas City, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, November 16, 2021. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Sunday, November 21, 2021 at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley, MO. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
Stephen was born June 11, 1958 in Kansas City, Missouri, son of Edwin O’Dell Bate and Fran Josephine Flynn Bate. Stephen was united in marriage to Jerlene Bate in 1987, later choosing to renew their vows on Valentine’s Day. Stephen enjoyed spending time with his son. Even as Stephen’s health declined, he was insistent on helping others. Stephen had few close friends but greatly valued those relationships.
He was proceeded in death by his mother; father; two brothers (Richard Bate and Tim Bate); sister (Betty Stotts); and wife (Jerlene Bate).
Stephen is survived by his son: Matt Bate (Cady); grandchildren: Makenzie, Keegan, and Sterling; also his brothers: Kim Bate and Mike Bate.
