“Pa” Norman Jean Tackett, 74, of Oak Grove, Missouri, passed away Saturday, June 16, 2012 at the VA Medical Center, Kansas City, MO. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 21st at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley, MO. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Norman was born January 7, 1938, in Cape Girardeau, MO, the son of Luther & Celess (Clark) Tackett. He served in the United States Army from 1956 – 1960. Norman was a past Master of the Masons (1983), Sheffield Lodge #625 and he was a lifelong member of the Schriners. He loved to travel, having traveled all over the US and Canada. Norman also loved to fish, work outside, and build new things. He loved the outdoors and building so much that he built his own home in 1986. He was a horse and dog lover, and had many show dogs.
Norman was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers & two sisters.
His survivors include his wife, Mary M. Tackett of the home; son, Norman & Tina Tackett of Hillsboro, MO; daughter, Sheila & John Flora of Union, MO; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four stepchildren: Tammy & Chad Noel of Moberly, MO, Rhonda & Harlon Stone of Platte City, MO, Christina Hutcherson of Kansas City, MO, and Roger & Sheila Turner of Grain Valley, MO; brother, Chalmer “Bus” Tackett, and two sisters: Lillian & Paul Pender and Barbara & John Layer, all of Jackson, MO.
