William Russell Talley, 86, of Oak Grove, MO passed away Wednesday July 24, 2013.
Visitation will be 3:00-4:00 p.m. Sunday July 28, 2013 at Royer Funeral Home, Oak Grove, MO. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 29, 2013 at the funeral home. Burial in Holden Cemetery. Russell was born February 9, 1927 in Holden, MO to Tom & May (Gann) Talley. Russell served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. Russell married the love of his life Opal Whiteman on September 14, 1946. Russell & Opal had been co-owners of the Lawler’s Oil Company in Holden and he retired from Stahl’s Specialty Co. in Kingsville, MO. Russell had been a volunteer for the Holden Senior Center, Lee’s Summit Hospitals, Oak Grove Nursing Home & Rehab Center and Crossroads Hospice. Russell enjoyed bowling and helping umpire little league games, and he would help anyone anytime.
Russell was preceded in death by his wife Opal in 2008; 1 sister; 5 brothers.
Russell is survived by his son Dale Talley & wife Flavia of the home; sister: Nadine Bradshaw of Holden, MO; 4 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren.
