Leon Paul Thompson, 71, of Grain Valley, MO passed away Tuesday December 26, 2006 at St. Mary’s Hospital of Blue Springs. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, December 29th at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Locust Baptist Church Cemetery in Versailles, MO.

Paul was born on December 26, 1935 in Mt. Vernon, MO, the son of Guy B. & Hattie (Claycomb) Thompson. Her married Shirley L. Sanders on October 4, 1958. Paul was a Marine veteran. He was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Grain Valley. He retired in 1997 after 39 years with the Bendix Corp.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, his sister: Wilma Thompson, and twin granddaughters: Stephanie & Samantha Swan.

His survivors include his wife of 48 years: Shirley L. Thompson of the home; 3 daughters: Rhonda Schoen & her husband Dale of Odessa, MO, Robin Thompson of Grain Valley, MO, Karen Swan & her husband Gale of Blue Springs, MO; 1 son: Danny Thompson & his wife Karla of Oak Grove, MO; 6 grandchildren: Andrew & his wife Andrea Schoen, Trisha Schoen, Seger & Sean Thompson, Kimberly & Michael Swan; 1 great-grandson: JaShawn Banks; 3 brothers: Wilbert Thompson & his wife Dorothy of Sheldon, MO, Kenneth Thompson &his wife Ginger of Edmond, OK, Frank Thompson of Grin Valley, MO; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
