Wilbert M. “Bus” Travis, 84, of Harrisonville, Missouri passed away Wednesday, May 1, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 6, 2013 at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley, MO; burial in Blue Springs Cemetery, Blue Springs, MO. The family will receive friends from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. Sunday, May 5th at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Bus was born August 16, 1928, the son of George and Retha (Rinehart) Travis. He was a member of the United States Navy, serving during WWII. He married Marcene Moretina on January 1, 1947. Bus was a sprinkler pipe fitter, working in the fire protection industry for over 50 years. He loved auctions, tractors, and spending time with his family. Bus was a Christian who loved the Lord and was proud to let people know it. He was a member of the Ararat Shrine Temple for many years in Kansas City, where he was part of the Scooter Corp.
Bus was preceded in death by his parents, and two grandchildren, Krickett McLelland and Kaci Kobel.
His survivors include his wife of 66 years, Marcene Travis of the home; son, Frank & Kathy Travis of Raytown, MO; son, John & Christy Travis of Eldon, MO; daughter, Mary & Jim Wilcox of Grain Valley, MO; son, Buzz & Stacey Travis of Blue Springs, MO; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; and his best friend, “Toby”.
