Darrell L. Walters, 64, Stockton, formerly of Oak Grove, Missouri, passed away Monday, March 31, 2014 at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Blue Springs, MO. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 4th at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley, MO. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 3rd at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the Rehabilitation Institute of Kansas City.
Darrell was born November 25, 1949, in Kansas City, MO, the son of Frederick & Pauline (Headley) Walters. He was a maintenance technician at Hallmark for 41 years, retiring in 2010. Darrell enjoyed sports, especially baseball, and was a KU Basketball fan. He was a fisherman & hunter, and loved chocolate Labradors. He also loved reading books, watching scary movies, and smoking cigars. Darrell loved his grandchildren & family.
Darrell was preceded in death by his father and one sister, Sandra Stout.
His survivors include two sons: Darrell L. (Lisa) Walters, & Steven L. (Lori) Walters, both of Oak Grove; his mother, Pauline Nelson, of Oak Grove; brother, Michael (Maureen) Walters of Camdenton, MO; sister, Denise (Paul) Bayless of Carl Junction, MO; five grandchildren: Brittany Mellinger, Stefani Walters, Destiny Walters, Nathan Arnold & Sharlie Walters; his fiancé & best friend for several years, Kathy Scott; and a long list of other friends & family.
