Edwin Earl Wiesemeyer was born on the family farm in Madison County near St. Jacob, Illinois, on October 30, 1929. His mother and dad, Rosa and Edwin Wiesemeyer, moved the family to Pierron, Illinois where he attended public school until transferring to Highland High School to finish his secondary education. After graduation in 1948, he began work for the Alton Box Board Company and, except for two years of service in the U.S. Army Signal Corp, he continued with the firm for thirty years. He finished his service there as Plant Superintendent at the Blue Springs facility in Missouri, and subsequently worked in that same capacity for Union Camp, Inc., and for the International Paper Company in Kansas City, Missouri. He retired in 1991 at 62 years old and took fun as his new full-time job, traveling in his motorhome and wintering with friends from across the nation in Harlingen, Texas.
He loved to catch a good fish, hear a good story, and fix whatever might be broken. He loved his three kids, six grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren and treated them all to hugs and affection.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mitzi (Young); daughter Debi Maher and her husband, Rick; son Dan Wiesemeyer and his wife, Linda; daughter Cindy Foresee and her husband Lance; his sister, Niala Keilbach; and his brother, Dale Wiesemeyer and his wife, Sarah Jane.
