Raymond Leonard Willoughby, 76, of Independence, MO, passed away Sunday, November 1, 2009, at Kansas City Hospice House. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, November 5, 2009 at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley, MO. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until service time.
Ray was born December 20, 1932 in Independence, MO, the son of Ammon H. & Mildred A. (Wilcox) Willoughby. He married Edith Joy Willoughby on August 16, 1957 and she preceded him in death on May 28, 2009. Ray was an Air Force Veteran. He had been employed as a driver at the TWA Overhaul Base for over 37 years, retiring in1994. He was a member of the Community of Christ.
Also preceding Ray in death were his parents, daughter Terry Janelle, and brother Myron Willoughby.
His survivors include a daughter & son-in-law: Misti & Matt Anderson of Wentzville, MO; two grandchildren: Skyler & Kylie Anderson; one brother: Jack W. Willoughby of Kansas City, MO; and two sisters: Rachel Peters of Henderson, NV, and B.J. Willoughby of Las Vegas, NV.
Ray was an avid golfer & sports fan. He loved traveling and spending time with his family. He will be lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
