Adelheid Wissman


Adelheid “Addie” Wissman, 92, of Independence, MO, passed away June 3, 2012 at the Villages of Jackson Creek, Memory Center in Independence.  She was born in Bisdorf, Germany on October 21, 1919.  Addie and her husband, Andreas, immigrated to America in 1955, became citizens in September 1961, and resided in Independence, MO.

Addie worked outside her home in many capacities, remaining a devoted wife and loving aunt, who enjoyed helping to care for her niece and nephews.  She was a lifetime charter member of the German American Citizens Association.

Her husband preceded Addie in death in 1988.

She is survived by two nephews, Hans Drigalla of Fort Myers, FL, and Peter Drigalla of Buckner, MO; four great-nephews; one great-niece; and eight great great-nieces and nephews.

A celebration of her life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 23rd at the Memory Center, 3980 Jackson Creek Drive, Independence, MO 64057.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Crossroads Hospice.  The family is very grateful to the staff at the Memory Center and Crossroads Hospice for all the kindness and care Addie received.
