Gregory A. Woods, 59, of Grain Valley, MO, passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at Centerpoint Medical Center, Independence, MO. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, May 17th at Faith United Methodist Church, Grain Valley; burial in Valley Memorial Gardens, Grain Valley. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the church. Contributions may be made to Faith United Methodist Church for the Backpack program, the building fund, or local scholarships.
Gregory was born November 30, 1953, in Excelsior Springs, MO, the son of Hugh Ervin and Anna Yvette (Taggart) Woods. He married Debbie Gerhardt on July 31, 1976. He retired from fire service. Gregory had a passion for being an educator. He also had a love of history and was a Civil War re-enactor for 13+ years.
Gregory was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Michael Woods; and sister, Joyce Ayers.
His survivors include his wife, Debbie; son, Zachary Woods; and niece, Rachael & Chuck Wortman.
