Glenda J. Noland Smallwood


Glenda Jane Noland Smallwood, 78 of Independence, MO passed away January 22, 2022.

Glenda was born in Kansas City, MO on January 16, 1944 to her parents John & Bula Noland. She graduated from Van Horn High School in 1962 and married her husband, Roland on August 16, 1963. Glenda was a member of Cross Creek Baptist Mission.  She was proud of her Irish Noland family who were early settlers in Independence, MO. Noland Road was named for this family and Glenda was a member of the daughters of the American Revolution. Glenda worked at Centerpoint Hospital. She began her career at the Independence Sanitarium. Her total time of working in this capacity was over 50 years and she was an excellent and dedicated employee.

Glenda was preceded in death by her husband and parents, brothers: Joe D. Noland, Robert Byrom, Charles J. Byrom; brothers-in-law’s: Roy Brown, Danny Gann and friend Bill Wills.

Glenda is survived by son Michael (Becky); grandchildren: Heather, Emily, James Ashley and Kimberly; sisters: Donna Brown, Marsha Bergman (Mike), Barbara Carson (Ron), Lyla Gann; brother: James Byrom (Rosie).

Glenda dearly loved her family members and will be greatly missed by all.

  3. Glenda was a wonderful colleague of mine at Centerpoint. I so enjoyed joking with her every morning. She will be sadly missed. She was tiny but mighty and often pulled a delivery cart stacked higher than her full of supplies. Prayers and deepest condolences to her family. Kristin CNC Womens Services at Centerpoint.
