Sonya Anne Crocker, 62, of Belton, Missouri passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2022. A visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Thursday, May 26, 2022 at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley, Missouri.
Sonya was born September 21, in Kansas City, Missouri at St. Joseph Medical Center. The daughter of Robert Lee and Alyce (Blackwill) Whitmire. Sister to Arlene Winking, Brenda Carrico, and Jacob Whitmire. Sonya graduated from Truman High School, Independence, Missouri in 1977. Sonya married Edward Wayne Thornton in February of 1977. Having, daughter, Christina Marie Thornton and son, Eric Wayne Thornton. Sonya later married Bill Faye Buckridge in July of 1989. Having, son, Justin Paul Thornton. Sonya spent her early career years working for Proctor & Gamble in accounting. She spent the rest of her career as an in-home healthcare worker for seniors and disabled at Cass County Community Living.
She was proceeded in death by, her father, Robert Lee Whitmire.
Sonya is survived by her children: Daughter, Christina Marie Thornton; Son: Eric Wayne Thornton. Son, Justin Paul Thornton, married to Amy Lynn Thornton; Grandchildren: Stormi Grace Thornton. Emma Renane King. Lilly May Thornton. And Eric Wayne Thornton Jr. Great Grandchildren: Karson Edward McCale.
