Jerry Dante Ryan, 80, of Odessa, MO, also known as “Grouchy Bear”, passed away Thursday, July 19, 2012 at John Knox Village Hospice, Lee’s Summit, MO. A Celebration of Life will be held at 6 pm Wednesday, August 1stin the Fellowship Hall of First Baptist Church, 14th& Salem, Oak Grove, MO. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Bridge of Faith Church in Rockaway Beach, c/o First Baptist Church, Oak Grove.
Jerry was born February 6, 1932, in Springfield, MO, the son of Harold Francis and Eleanor M. (Akridge) Ryan. He served his country in the United States Marines. Jerry was a member of the First Baptist Church of Oak Grove, the Elderberries, and the Odessa American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, training horses, traveling, and attending church. Jerry loved his family, especially his grandchildren.
His survivors include his wife of 56 years, Dixie of the home; two daughters: Renee Edwards & husband Jeff of Oak Grove, and Renita Geddes & husband Douglas of Odessa; three sons: Michael Ryan of Colorado Springs, CO, Mark Ryan & wife Shelley of Odessa, and Matt Ryan of Odessa; and seven grandchildren: Rachelle Pritchard & husband Trent, Reanna Geddes, Adriana Ryan, Alexis Ryan, Kayla Ryan, Taylor Ryan, & Shelbey Waln.
