Frederick A. Wilber


Frederick Atwood Wilber, 82, joined his Savior to ever reside in peace on April 12, 2012. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday. April 16, 2012 at St. John LaLande Catholic Church, 805 NW R.D. Mize Rd., Blue Springs, MO 64015. Visitation will be 2:00-4:00 p.m. Sunday, April 15 at Royer Funeral Home, MO. Interment at Oak Grove Cemetery.

Fred was bron May 8, 1929 in Kansas Ciyt, MO to Walter and Pearl Wilber. He graduated from Shawnee Mission High School in 1948. He joined the bricklayers union in 1957 where was a tile-setter for all of his professional life. Fred was in the U.S. Army and proudly served his country during the Korean conflict. He remained a lifelong member of the VFW and was an active member in Post #6649. He married Cecelia Marie Coomes on May 1, 1954 in Kansas City, MO and they enjoyed 57 happy years together. Fred was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. His greatest happiness was his wife and large family. He and Cecelia had eight children, sixteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, building things. Gardening and hopelessly trying to fix computers. Fred loved to tease and be teased, to fish with his sons, sons-in-law and grandchildren and to be the first one served dessert! He will be missed tremendously by all.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Irene; and his daughter, Mary. He is survived by his wife: Cecelia, his children: Christopher and his wife Diane, Charles and his wife Dru, Elizabeth Hatchel, Becky Ryan and her husband Ben, Paul and his wife Kristi, Leslie Cearley and her husband Jon, Marie Winnie and Deborah Fannin and her husband Don; 16 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren, as well as nieces and nephews.
