Charles “Bill” Colston Jr.

Charles William “Bill” Colston, Jr., 75, of Oak Grove, MO, passed away Saturday, February 14, 2009 at Oak Grove Nursing & Rehab.  He will be cremated.  A Memorial Gathering will be held from 1-2 pm Sunday, February 22nd at the White Oak Crossing Clubhouse, north of I-70 in Oak Grove.

Bill was born March 17, 1933 in Alton, IL, the son of Charles Sr. & Ella (Evers) Colston.  He married Lina A. Liebscher on January 14, 1954.  Bill was a cereal chemist, retiring in 1995.  He had helped in the obtaining of several patents: Martha White Artificial Blueberry Muffins, Jelly Bellies, and Topsy’s Popcorn. He was a member of the American Association of Cereal Chemists, the I.F.T., and the Lee’s Summit United Methodist Church.  Bill & Lina had enjoyed 14 years of traveling together in their R.V. before moving to White Oak Crossing in Oak Grove six months ago.

His survivors include his wife of 55 years, Lina Colston of the home; two sons; Charles W. “Bill” Colston III & wife Clarica of Grain Valley, MO and Christopher P. Colston & wife Tracey of Roscoe, IL; a daughter: Cynthia A. Cummings & husband Tom of Topeka, KS; four grandchildren:  Candace Whyde, Meghan Ward-Dennis, Derek Ward-Colston, and Jillian Ward-Colston; and two great-grandchldren:  Sapphire Whyde and Marissa Whyde.

Bill will be lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
