Robert Keith Poppie, 55, of Oak Grove, MO, passed away Sunday, March 29, 2009 at his home, surrounded by his family. A visitation will be held from 6-8 pm Tuesday, March 31st at Royer Funeral Home, Oak Grove. The funeral service will be 11 am Wednesday, April 1st at Royer’s; burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the children’s education fund.
Bob was born on October 14, 1953, in Kansas City, MO, the son of William & Mary (Fulton) Poppie. He was a US Navy veteran. Bob married Lisa Bryant on October 21, 1995. He was a truck driver for Vitran Express, retiring in 2008 due to a health reason. He was a member of the Teamster’s Union. Bob attended the Christian Church.
Bob enjoyed golfing, fishing, and camping. He was an avid Chiefs and MU fan.
His survivors include his wife, Lisa of the home; two daughters: Justine Gibson of Bates City, MO, and Veronica Poppie of the home; one brother: Bill Poppie & wife Jean of Leawood, KS; and one sister: Janice Seese & husband Dennis of Ottawa, KS. His first grandchild is due this June, a boy to be named Joseph Robert Paul Wright.
