Charles White

Charles L. White III, 85, formerly of Warsaw, MO & Grain Valley, MO, currently living at Missouri Veterans Home in Warrensburg, MO, passed away Sunday, April 12, 2009 at Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg.  A visitation will be held from 12-1 p.m. Wednesday, April 15th at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley, with funeral services at 1 p.m.   Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Kansas City, MO.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Missouri Veterans Home in Warrensburg.

Charles was born in Kansas City, MO on October 4, 1923, the son of  Charles II & Frances M. (Esterline) White.  He was a graduate of Paseo High School. Charles was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served in the Pacific during WWII.  While serving in the Navy, he attended Baker’s College in Aimes, Iowa. Charles was employed as a baker in the Kansas City area from 1946 to 1981 and was a member of the Baker’s Union.

Charles was an active member of the Warsaw Christian Church.

He married Marian Nilsson on January 15, 1946 and she preceded him in death on November 17, 2007.  His parents, brother Gerald R. White, and sister Patricia Suhr also preceded him in death.

His survivors include one son: Charles White IV of Independence, MO; three daughters: Janet McNally of Grain Valley, MO,  Jo Anne Baker &  husband Charles of Independence, MO, and Ellen Woody & husband Doug of Lee’s Summit, MO; nine grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; sister Barbara Dayal of Overland Park, KS; and several nieces, nephews and extended family.
