William “Bill” Rice, 73, of Oak Grove, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, June 17, 2009. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2009 from 1 pm to 2 pm with memorial service following at 2 pm at the 1st Baptist Church of Oak Grove, 400 East 14th Street, Oak Grove, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to 1st Baptist Church Memorial Fund.
Bill was born on February 5, 1936. The son of Georgia (Moore) & Richard Rice. He married Norma (Keys) Rice on December 20,1953. Bill was an avid poetry writer, accommodated with several awards from Ford Motor Company, an active member of the 1st Baptist Church of Oak Grove, loved traveling in his motor home, going out to eat with friends, and his younger years showing horses.
His survivors include Norma Rice, of the home, Two children, daughter Ranea and husband Gary Fisher of Blue Springs, MO, and son Rick Rice and wife Paula of Pheonix, AZ. Four grandchildren, Celeste Jeffrey, Andrew Dean, Gavin Fisher, Rick Rice, and two great grandchildren, Kayla Jeffrey and Hunter Rice, One brother, Larry Rice of Wheatland, MO. He was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Irwin and a granddaughter, Melanie Dean.
