Lucy Nadine Filler, 67, died Sunday, October 25, 2009 at her home in Concordia, MO, after a long bout with illness, with her devoted husband, Robert Filler at her side.
Lucy was born on February 3, 1942, in Oak Grove, MO, the daughter of John P. & Alice Lydia (Robinson) Halphin. She was the youngest of 5 children. She lived most of her life in the Lafayette County area. She was a life member of the VFW in Odessa, MO. Lucy married Robert L. Filler on June 11, 1982 in Ottawa, KS. They operated AA Contract Carriers, Inc. in Ottawa for several years and retired to Dunksburg, MO in November, 1989.
Lucy was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, John & Paul Halphin, one sister, Evelyn Halphin, her daughter, Wanda Mitchell, and a grandson, Cody Vinson.
Her survivors include her husband of 27 years: Robert Filler of the home; one sister: Suzy Triplett & husband William of Ottawa, KS; a step-daughter: Ladonna Filler of Odessa, MO; three grandchildren: Jesse Barnett & wife Rashelle of Dunksburg, MO, Angie Wortz & husband John of Vienna, MO, and Brandon Filler of Odessa, MO; four great-grandchildren: Clay & Coal Barnett, Destiny Vinson, and Alexsis Wortz.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 29th at Royer Funeral Home, Oak Grove; burial Mt. Zion Cemetery, Dunksburg, MO. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Wanda Mitchell Fund.
Lucy was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother and will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
