Mark David Jones, Sr., 57, of Warsaw, MO passed away, Tuesday, November 24, 2009. Funeral services will be held 9:30 a.m., Monday, November 30, 2009 at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley, MO with burial following at 11:00 a.m. in the Missouri State Veteran’s Cemetery, Higginsville, MO. The family will receive friends Sunday, November 29, 2009; from 3 to 5 p.m. with a citing of the Rosary at 5:00 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to an educational fund for his grandchildren.
Mark was born November 13, 1952, the son of David and Helen (Kreucher) Jones. He was raised in the Northeast area where he graduated from De La Salle High School in 1971. On October 20, 1971 Mark married the love of his life Linda (Baker) Jones. Mark served in the U.S. Navy from 1971-1976 and was a Vietnam Veteran. In December of 1999, Mark retired from the Missouri/Union Pacific Railroad as an engineer. In his spare time he was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing.
Mark was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Emma Linnet Groff.
His survivors include his wife of 38 years; Linda of the home, one son; Mark Jones, Jr., and his wife Sarah of Odessa, MO, one daughter; Jennifer Groff and her son Caleb of Oak Grove, MO; his parents, David and Helen Jones of Independence, MO, 8 brothers and sisters; and many nieces and nephews.
