Mildred M. Oxley (Grandma Millie), 90, of Murfreesboro, TN, formerly of Oak Grove, MO, passed away Friday November 27, 2009. A graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at the Blue Springs Cemetery, Blue Springs, MO. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at the Royer-Hays Funeral Home, Blue Springs, Missouri.
Mildred was born January 31, 1919 in rural Jackson County to Claude and Suzie (Shoemaker) Spencer. She was a loving housewife and devoted volunteer to many organizations.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husbands; Edward N. Bitzer, Sr. and Harold J. Oxley.
She is survived by 4 sons; Edward N. Bitzer, Jr of Independence, MO, Ronald L. Bitzer of AL, William T. Bitzer of Grain Valley, MO, and Donald E. Bitzer of Coweta, OK, 3 daughters; Claudine Lindsay of Higginsville, MO, Mildred Mansell of Oak Grove, MO, and Barbara Oxley of Lebanon, TN, 5 step daughters; Margaret Hogue of TN, Sandra Reid of GA, Ann McDonald of TN, Ruth Rockridge of CA, and Mary Boylen of OH, 6 step sons; Miles Oxley of IA, William Oxley and Kingsley Oxley both of MO, Ralph Oxley of TN, Jan Oxley of CO, and Maynard Oxley of OH, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
