Ruth Hartshorn

Ruth Hartshorn went home to be with the Father in Heaven on November 19, 2009. She was born Ruth Roberts to Martha E. Beasley Roberts and James H. Roberts. She married Earl D. Hartshorn on Jan. 14, 1039 and they lived in Pittsburg, KS for 52 years until health issues brought them to K.C. to be near family.

Ruth is survived by daughter Martha M. Hoglund and husband Carl; grandson Samuel E. Hoglund and fiancé Hailey Ford; and niece Jackie Stalker and husband Ron.

She was greeted in Heaven by her late husband, her parents, two sisters: Alice Brown and Esther Smith; and two brothers: Melvin and Raymond Roberts.

Ruth retired as a cafeteria manager from Washington Elementary School in Pittsburg. She loved feeding her students and baking was her passion. A member of Englewood Senior Center, she baked pies for all her friends there. She was a member of St. Luke’s   Presbyterian Church and Norclay Optimist Club.

A Memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, December 3rd at St. Luke’s,  4301 NE Vivion Rd., KCMO.
