Anna Maude Fox, 102, of Bates City, MO, passed away Thursday, June 24, 2010 at Monterey Park Nursing Center, Independence. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 29, at the First Baptist Church of Oak Grove; burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery, Warrensburg, MO. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Royer Funeral Home, Oak Grove. Memorial contributions may be made to Continua Hospice, 7611 State Line Road, Suite 202, Kansas City, MO 64114, or the charity of your choice.
Anna was born on May 14, 1908 in Chapel Hill, MO, the daughter of Zachariah & Mary Florence (Ragsdale) Violett. She married Richard M. Fox on May 19, 1926. Anna worked hard all her life. She worked in housekeeping & catering at the college in Warrensburg; she owned & operated Nu Way Inn in Odessa; she had been employed at Lake City Army Arsenal; and she had managed I-70 Mobile Home Park in Bates City; she baked & decorated wedding cakes; and she cooked for her customers at Stuckey’s in Bates City. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star in Odessa and she was a Methodist.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard in 1966, son Richard Junior Fox in 1996, and daughters Wilma Negrete in 1985 & Ramona Nance in 1993.
Her survivors include a son & daughter-in-law: Tom & Lisa Fox of Blue Springs, MO; a daughter & son-in-law: Norma Jean & Floyd Wilkinson of Whidbey Island, WA; and four generations of grandchildren.
