John P. Hess, 72, of Independence, MO, passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2010 at St. Luke’s Medical Center, Lees Summit, MO. Services will be 12:00 pm, Monday, July 12, 2010 at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville, MO. The family will receive friends preceding the service from 10:30 to 11:00 am at the Royer Funeral Home, Oak Grove, MO.
John was born March 25, 1938 in Kansas City, MO to Arthur and Lenna (Lasiter) Hess. He married the love of his life, Mary (Tann) Hess on November 10, 1961. He was a Benefits Authorizer for the Social Security Administration until retiring in 1996.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Arthur and Lenna Hess; one sister: June Fetterling; his infant son: Ronald Hess in 1962; and two grandchildren in 1987.
His survivors include his wife of 48 years: Mary Hess of the home; his son: Bill Hess and wife Michelle of Independence, MO; his daughter: Cheri Nau and husband Larry of Oak Grove, MO; six grandchildren: Katie and Dan Nau, William, Kim, Matt, and Stephanie Hess; two great grandchildren: Josey and Autumn Hess; and special friends: Bobbi, Sheri, and Harley.
