Ora Juanita Jewell Goebel, 86, of Bates City, MO, went to be with the Lord and her loved ones on July 12, 2010 at 3:38 a.m. after a long battle with Alzheimers. Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at Royer Funeral Home, Oak Grove, MO; burial in Woodlawn Cemetery, Independence, MO. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10-11 a.m. preceding the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Juanita was born February 18, 1924 in Houston, MO to Ora William & Geneva “Dicie” (Dotson) Travis. She worked as a seamstress at Sears during her teen years, and later in Texas making bullets for the soldiers in World War II. She loved making clothes for her children, canning fruits & vegetables, and growing flowers in her garden.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Richard A. Goebel, Sr.; her parents: Ora Williams & Geneva Travis-Dewey; her step-father: Charles Dewey; three sisters, and two brothers.
Her survivors include her five children: Harold Eugene Woolsey, Jr., H. Jewell (Woolsey) Stone, Richard Albert Goebel Jr., Travis Antoine Goebel, and Juanita Antoinette (Goebel) Chelsey; one brother: Ralph Dewey & wife Jean; sister-in-law: Henrietta Russell; 16 grandchildren; 46 great grandchildren; 4 great great-grandchildren; many nieces & nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends, all who loved her and will miss her very much.
