Willard B. Parker, 91, of Blue Springs, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at the Wilshire At Lakewood Nursing Home, Lee’s Summit, MO. Services will be held 10 a.m.; Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at the Blue Springs 1st Church of Nazarene. Burial at Swan Lake Memorial Park Cemetery-Grain Valley, MO. The family will receive friends Monday, July 12th from 6 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Memorial Garden at the Blue Springs 1st Church of the Nazarene, 2801 Southwest Walnut Street, Blue Springs, MO 64015 or the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.

Willard was born July 5, 1919 in Greeley, MO to Irwin Guy and Myrtle Ethel (Brooks) Parker. On August 10, 1948 he married the love of his life: Mable (Sykes) Parker. He worked for IML as a truck driver for over 40 years before retiring in 1982 and was a charter member of the Blue Springs 1st Church of the Nazarene. He loved serving God, his church, family and friends. Well known for his “Green Thumb”. You’ve never tasted a better tomato!

He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years: Mable Parker; His parents: Guy and Myrtle Parker; one son: Jerry Parker; and brother: Carl “Shorty” Parker.

His survivors include one son: Denny Parker and his fiance Debbie Dennis of Blue Springs, MO; one daughter: Donna Thompson and her husband Tim of Olathe, KS; 9 grandchildren: Jason Parker, Tammy Gunter, Leah Taylor, Jay Hines, Rikki Parker, Chad Crenshaw, Ashley Crenshaw, Saundra Chapman, and Spencer Thompson; and 11 great grandchildren.
