William “Bill” Doyne McCoy, 80, of Oak Grove, MO, passed away Tuesday, September 14, 2010. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 18 at the First Baptist Church of Oak Grove, 400 SE 14 Street, Oak Grove, MO; Burial in the Corn Cemetery, Oak Grove, MO. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:00 – 2 p.m. preceding the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial contributions to the Oak Grove Booster Club.
Bill was born on May 28, 1930 in Kansas City, MO, the son of William M. and Opal Marie (Dunham) McCoy. On July 24, 1955, Bill married the love of his life Nancy (Corn) McCoy. He proudly served our country in the US Marine Corp. He had served on the Oak Grove School Board, was a member of the First Baptist Church of Oak Grove, and the Oak Grove Masonic Lodge. In his younger years, Bill was a Boy Scout leader, and a coach of many Little League sports. He loved spending time golfing, shooting pool, and time with his family down at the Lake of the Ozarks.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents: William M. and Opal McCoy.
His survivors include his beloved wife of 55 years: Nancy McCoy of the home; two sons: Scott McCoy & wife Kathy of Springfield, MO, Andy McCoy & wife Michelle of Republic, MO; two daughters: Jana Kennard & husband Kurt of Warsaw, MO and Julie Frame & husband Steve of Gladstone, MO; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
