Eglentyne Russell, 99, formerly of Grain Valley, Missouri passed away Friday, October 15, 2010 at the Meyer Care Center in Higginsville, MO. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 16, 2010 at the Blue Springs Cemetery, Blue Springs, MO. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made in her memory to: First Baptist Church of Higginsville-1907 Peach, Higginsville, MO 64037.
Eglentyne was born March 16, 1911 in Buckner, MO, the daughter of Robert and Ethel (Smith) Blackburn. She married the love of her life Samuel “Raymond” Russell and together they owned and operated an orchard south of Grain Valley. She was a member of the First Baptist of Higginsville, MO and a 2nd grade teacher for the Independence School District before retiring after 32 years of service.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Robert and Ethel Blackburn; and her husband: Raymond Russell.
Her survivors include her son: Gene Russell and wife Nancy of Wichita, KS, and two grandchildren: Casey Russell and Megan Russell, both of Dallas, TX.
