Audrey Mae Griffin, 76, of Oak Grove, MO, passed away Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at Centerpoint Medical Center, Independence, MO. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 27, at Royer Funeral Home, Oak Grove, MO; burial in the Sni Mills Cemetery, Oak Grove, MO. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 -8:00 p.m. Friday, November 26, 2010. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Community Service League of Oak Grove, MO, or the Humane Society.
Audrey was born March 16, 1934 in West Plains, MO, the daughter of Albert and Bessie (Bray) Fowler. She married Donald Wayne Griffin on December 11, 1953. Audrey served as Mayor of Oak Grove, MO from 1992 to 1993, served on the City Council as Alderman, helped to found the Paul Revere Run, and was a founder of the Oak Grove Car Show. She loved attending the First Baptist Church of Oak Grove.
Audrey was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers: Joe Fowler and Charles Fowler.
Her survivors include her husband of 56 years: Donald Griffin of the home; 3 daughters: Donita Hartzler & husband Diderico of Kansas City, MO, Janice Deering & husband Rich of Harlingen, TX, and Caralynn Woody & husband Darin of Grain Valley, MO; 3 grandchildren: Russell Hartzler, Jerry Hartzler & wife Jennifer, and Jana Scarborough & husband Todd; and 3 great grandchildren: Daniel Hartzler, Ella Scarborough, and Landon Scarborough.
