Georgia Lorene Griffith-Cummins, 79, a current resident of Sedalia, MO, but longtime resident of Oak Grove, Bates City, and Blue Springs, MO, peacefully passed away on Sunday, December, 5, 2010. Please join the family in remembrance of Georgia Lorene at a family visitation to be held from 6-7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Royer Funeral Home, Oak Grove. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 9 at the Oak Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to your local food pantry.
Georgia was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and a friend to many. She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Beulah Griffith, Oak Grove, and brothers, J.W. Griffith (Oak Grove) and Jim Griffith (Bates City) and infant daughter Leslie Ann Cummins and infant great grandson, Samuel Scoles.
She leaves two sisters: Marion Hart & husband Bruce of Page, Arizona, and Frances Othic of Blue Springs; two sisters-in-law: Barbara Griffith of Oak Grove and Donna Griffith of Bates City. Georgia Lorene also leaves behind her loving children, Daughters: Brenda Smith & husband Perry of Farmers Branch, Texas and Beverly Hayes & husband Jack of Sedalia, MO; Sons: Brent Cummins of Bates City, MO and Brad Cummins of Independence, MO. Her grandchildren include Jennifer Knifong Scoles & husband Tielor of Harrisonville, MO; Jeff Knifong of Montana; Kaylin Dunkin of Independence, MO; and Levi Cummins of Belton, MO. She also leaves behind (her pride and joy) two great grandsons Owen and Wyatt Scoles of Harrisonville, MO.
Georgia Lorene was a strong, independent woman. Her children always have been, and will remain, exceptionally proud of her intelligence, wit, and wisdom.
